March, 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian,

In just a few weeks, Boothbay Region Elementary School will administering the Maine Educational Assessments, better known as the (MEA) test.  The MEA is a state required set of assessments in Mathematics, English Language Arts (ELA) and Literacy.  Students in grades 3 through 8 will take the online eMPowerME.  This test is delivered by Measured Progress.

The testing Window for these assessments are: March 18th through April 12th, 2019.

While no single test can give a complete picture of student achievement, when combined with student grades and teacher reports, it can provide valuable information about student progress.  The assessments measure the content and skills outlined in the state approved learning standards.  The assessment results allow us as a school to see where students need support, as well as the areas where students have mitered the content.

When a student does not participate in the state assessments, valuable information is lost.  As a parent you can support your child’s success by assuring that they arrive in school, on-time, rested and well nourished.

If you have questions about testing, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Mark J. Tess

Principal
